Hi, I’m elizabeth weiss nook
i am a professional architect and self-taught artist. I started my art journey with watercolor renderings for my architectural portfolio, but in recent years my work has centred around landscape painting and more specifically using heated pigmented wax (encaustic) as my preferred medium. As a recovering people-pleaser and perfectionist, I have embraced creating imperfect, multi-layered pieces that each tell their own backstory, scars, blemishes, moments of joy, and, in the right light, reveal their authentic selves and stories.
My artwork is inspired by the connection between the Outer Landscape and one’s Inner Spirit. Sunlight peeking through a storm cloud, a dark sky contrasting with the glow of green leaves on the trees, whitecaps on a churned-up bay, dark and light... we all carry it inside us. My artwork aims to capture that dichotomy.
i am also a wife, mom to two active children, and a uscg boat captain.
thank you for being here.
